Just before our rally in Cornwall I gave our Morocco a wash and polish so she would at least look her best and if it rained the water would perhaps run off the paintwork quickly!
Being a clumsy polisher I couldn’t help myself getting some of the wax polish onto the black bumpers and other plastic bits around the vehicle, such as the wing mirrors and door handles. These didn’t really show up until it was too late but when I got back home the white marks everywhere looked unsightly so I went to the local supermarket and bought a jar of smooth peanut butter.
Applied with a duster the peanut butter cleaned off the white polish marks from the plastic in seconds. You can also give all the plastic a once over as it works like a “Back to Black” treatment. Apparently it is the oils in the peanut butter which do the work.
A secondary trick is to put a spoonful of peanut butter into something like a jam jar lid and use this for treating the marks. This way the peanut butter in the jar stays clean and you can eat it later!
