Sites Recommended by MembersAndy Embling recommends sites close to MURVI Motorcaravans: We have stayed at 2 Caravan Club CLs nearish to Murvi at Ivybridge and at the Camping Club Site at Tavistock. We stop at the CLs regularly when getting Murvi to service the habitation side annually. We can certainly recommend the CLs – very friendly and attractive in their own right. The one is near Tavistock – Lumburn Court, Callington Road, Tavistock, PL19 8HS. This has a limited hard standing area and basic loo and shower as well as an electric hook up. Nice grassy lawn and sheltered. Takes dogs. Contact Mr Summers on 01822 617356. Usually booked well in advance. The other CL is on the outskirts of Brixton – Hilltops, 11 Hilltop Cottages, Brixton, PL8 2AY. It has chickens and ducks on site (in a rather nice penned area) with eggs in season. There is matting across the lawned area buried in the grass so hard standings are not necessary. Good recycling, water, and hookups. Again sheltered and with the bus to Plymouth just up the road and a great Garden Centre just opposite. I don’t think it takes dogs but check with the owner, Mrs Fuller on 01752 880150. They have a web site –www.hilltopscaravanpark.co.uk.
The Camping Club site to the east of Tavistock is fine but we find such sites expensive. There is a commercial site just on the outskirts of Plymouth – just to north of the big Sainsburys and just off the A38. It is called RiversideCaravan Park. While we have only stayed there once we found it unappealing although I cannot actually identify anything wrong with it. It is a full facility site. |

If you need to visit Murvi and want to ‘wildcamp’ overnight I can recommend:
1. Lee Mill Layby 50.382208, -3.991457. It even has a catering caravan for morning bacon butty!
2. Westward Inn 50.38481, -3.97123 will generally let you stay overnight on their carpark if you have a meal there (or possibly just a drink!). Their phone number is 01752 892626
